It’s all in the flavor

In honor of a new section of Big Sky Siren, I thought I’d add a baking tip. A new flavor I discovered is called Princess and Cookie Flavor from Lorann Oils. I loved the flavor but I don’t like using artificial flavors. (Though I do admit to using colored sprinkles at Christmas time).

I decided to make my own, but had to figure out what is in it. Here is a mix I came up with while experimenting:
12 teaspoons vanilla (you can add more for a stronger vanilla flavor)
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg (I use nutmeg from Connecticut)
1/2 teaspoon Saigon Cinnamon (you can use any, but this is my favorite)
1 teaspoon almond oil
1/2 teaspoon lemon oil . I buy mine from Boyajian.

Mix the above, it is better if it sits at least 24 hours (it lasts as long as any flavoring), but you can use it right away. Replace the flavor in your recipe (i.e. use 1 teaspoon of this for 1 teaspoon vanilla).
